Dear Ms. Salony,

I have attended and attend a number of such on going formation sessions or training programmes. I often put off myself soon the sessions begin - I know it already attitude. However, I was very attentive to everything you said. Firstly because you spoke sense and sensibility rooted in the realities of a Salesian Teacher. Secondly, your presentation was quite unlike others. I felt from the very beginning that you were not here to sell yourself rather with concern and with a mission.

The first projection you had on the wall was ‘Connecting .... This is what exactly we teachers miss in our day-to-day teaching; and you have brought it so clearly throughout you sessions how that alone can win a child, build a child, mould a child, give a sense of purpose for a child, .... Madam, believe all I have said .... because I have spoken from my heart and I mean every word I have said. You have been really wonderful, down to earth with practical application.

Thank you and God bless you. I hope and pray that you would visit our school again.

It is thanks to our interaction with Ms. Salony Priya and takeaways from her session that each of us at Sunbeam Schools have understood how to aid personal and social development of students appropriate to developmental stages. All educators at Sunbeam Schools are now in a position to counsel students and if required their families on how to foster growth in the students' self esteem, in taking up individual responsibility, and in skills such as decision making and social skills and to provide appropriate interventions to assist students with school related problems and issue.

Our association with Ms. Salony Priya has been enriching and has enhanced our outlook towards schooling and schools.

Joyce Anderson, A.G.Church School, Asansol

Dear Salony Mam,

I offer my sincerest thanks for your invaluable discourse which has greatly impacted our teachers. You have delved into the psyche of young children and your views have enlightened and enlivened us. Your advice that 'responsible discipline engage both mind and heart' should be an important notion to be followed by all Teachers. Ensuring discipline with dignity seems imperative and the visual presentation of Mark Thackeray as a teacher is an effective testimonial to such an idea.

Two other very relevant thoughts have been introduced in your discourse, firstly that a teacher should win over a child with love and compassion and secondly she should also reason the behaviour of a child, where the priorily should be offered to 'ask' and not to 'assume'.

I, being an educationist is sensitive to the issue of educating a child in its truest sense. I possess the firm conviction that your presence and skilful dealing on the issue of instilling discipline and educating a child would help the teachers to reassess their responsibilities. The connotation of education has received a broader dimension through you discussion.

The Assembly of God Church School Asansol would adopt your views to usher in a more favourable and positive trend in educting a child. I am also contemplating on introducing postoral conselling and simultaneously ensure that each teacher can become a counsellor.

I believe in the Creator God who has created us in a unique manner, will surely guide us to help the students to be human being in a true sense. Hoping to meet you again. God bless you!

Reema Mukharjee, Consultant Psychiatrist, Crystal Clinic

It has made the work of mental health professeionals like me, who work with school children, a lot easier having you as teacher counsellor cum liasion psychologist.

With your unlimited energy and enthusiasm, optimism and willingness to bring about a change in the mindset of the school authorities and parents and making them psychologically aware, you have made a diiference in an area that sorely needed it The schools that you are associated with have definitely got a better insight about a child's psychological make up, problems that a school going child may have such as ADHD, LD, and the various emotional and behavioural problems.

As a result when a child from such a school is referred to us, we know that we will get full cooperation from that school. Unfortunately this is not the situatiuon in mostt of the other schools in Kolkata. I hope that our association will grow from strength to strength and we continue our efforts to make this city have a more child friendly education system and schools.

You led them on to realize that their individual lutes of education was a worthy instrument fitted with a stream of variegated strings which required to be handled adeptly to conjure or up a presentation that should hold their audience with rapt attention every time they entered the realms of the classroom! You were a virtuoso at your best; making them realize that many of them required to adjust their strings.

Suraj Tamang, Principal, Sacred Heart School, Matigara, Siliguri.

Dear Salony Maam,

Thank you very much for making yourself available for the staff and students of Sacred Heart School, Matigara, Siliguri, for the two days (15th and 16th November 2016) sessions. The counseling sessions for teachers made them realize to be better educators and students could set their path for future by self realization Your counselling sessions are meant for the hearts of the people. when a heart is transformed the mind gets better direction Though to consider heart to control a mind would sound wearied for a psychologist But what I believe is "Heart of the education is education of hearts."

Therefore to deliver heart to heart education a beautiful heart is required, who other than you could be the best to transform any ones heart as you bear the most beautiful one. Mother — as regarded by most of the sudents in their feedback forms prove that the level at which you relate to them and understand each one of them is simply awesome.

Teacher's competency of teaching a subject in the class rooms is no more relevant if one fails to understand the students as a subject and relate to them as per their level of cognitive development, EQ and RQ(or SQ). Therefore, training the teachers to build compassionate hearts and make them realize the statement of a student — "if I dont learn the way you teach, please teach me the way I learn" is a challenge well shorted by Ummeed under your able leadership Maam. The amount of research and hard work put in by the organization in understanding the need of education for the modern circumstances have always attracted many educators to be with you for any time possible.

I consider myself lucky to receive training many a times since 2009 from you Ma'am, which has definitely helped me a lot in understanding myself in dealing with children. I hope you have considered me as one of your obedient students too. With hope to see you soon and best wishes to you and your team for making a difference In the field of Education in our country, I on behalf of students and staff extend heartfelt gratitude towards the most memorable and fruitful time spent here at Sacred Heart.

Last week, I attended one workshop in Kolkata which was a good experience, it reminded me of you. But I have a regret. I want to attend more of your workshop which had not happened since the last time. Please let me know if I can attend your workshop in future.

I have been attending the basic counseling skills workshop forthe past six months. It has truly been an enriching experience. It has helped me to introspect and develop a deeper insight into myself. It has equipped meto be an effective listener and pickup nonverbal signals and understand then spoken word of students and faculty members. I have developed more a nonjudgmental style of leadership. Enabling me to understand the psyche of students. I have been able to better understand issues of adolescents and the students can understand that l am there for them. Dear Ma’am

l’am indeed happy to hear the good news of the work you are doing. I believe you are doing wonders in motivating, guiding, and walking hand in hand with student and parent community. This is actually the need of the hour as the competition is so much prevalent from early classes, and not to forget the severe cut throats at senior and competitive levels too. The stress is so well judged and managed by you ma’am. The people who are in your fold are indeed lucky to be a part of a system who is so professional, yet caring and loving.

Mr. Nigel Michael DSouza, Principal of St. Patricks Higher Secondary School

"Hope in life can heal, can enable and can empower everyone”. The session conducted by Ms. Salony Priya, Founder Director - UMMEED — Positive Living Initiative, with the teachers of St Patrick’s Higher Secondary School and St Vincent’s High and Technical School, Asansol, re—kindled this sense of hope in the hearts of the teachers who attended this session. The calling of a teacher has become more difficult and challenging in the present times. This daylong session with Ms. Salony Priya invited us to view our profession as a celebratory picnic on a hill-side from which we can savour the gratifying achievements of the ‘already’ and have a glimpse of the unfolding mystery of the ‘not yet’.

The session was indeed a journey of recollection, introspection and realization of our roles as educators and the possibilities that can be explored to enable and empower the young minds and hearts that are put in our care. From this vantage point between ‘yesterday’ and ‘tomorrow’, this enriching session with Ms. Salony Priya will not only help us to look back and celebrate the harvest with gratitude for all that has been but also look forward with enthusiasm and conviction to the beauty of the great unknown that is waiting to be explored and celebrated.

We feel inspired by the beauty of our of session and also greatly motivated to enable and empower our students to walk out into the world with their ‘heads held high’.

Leadership in Excellence
Mrs. Salony Priya of Ummeed conducted a workshop on ‘Class Room Management and Teacher as a Counsellor’ on 2nd July 2011. The workshop was organized by Pearson Longman and attended by all the teachers of KSMS.
The four hours just flew by as Ms. Salony took the teachers on a journey through the minds of children, the impact that a few words and gestures of a teacher have to make or break a child’s hope for the future.
Comments like ‘The Best Workshop ever attended’ are apt to sum-up the participants’ view. The resource person was the strongest point of the programme.’ said the teachers. The workshop brought forth all learning about emotional changes of students. Things that were taught in B.Ed. but had been lost in the daily humdrum of achieving targets and giving good outcomes.
Her lively, charming personality and heart-to-heart talk enamoured her to all present. She gave simple and fresh solutions to recurring problems that nagged teachers in their day-to-day work. The entire topic though heav was dotted with laughter and positive energy emanating from her words.

What drew me to Umeed was the charisma of its Founder Director Salony Priya. She is a counselling psychologist, teacher, educational consultant and HR trainer. It is only natural that when one begins to write on the completion of a successful year of this powerful organization, one cannot but begin with Ms. Salony Priya, who is an inspiration and possesses the qualities of a remarkable leader. She has the competence, dominance, warmth, likeability and trust worthiness that make for a successful psychologist As the pioneer of a successful organization, she is a motivator who exudes confidence and reflects a high degree of enthusiasm whereby people respond more openly to her passion and dedication to her cause. She is a confident leader, calm, composed and steadfast who inspires confidence in others and draws out the trust and the best efforts of her team members. This leader works with an analytical insight keeping her goal dearly in focus.

While working as a teacher trainer with Umeed I have noticed how this organization is commit ted to excellence and is highly proactive in order to achieve excellence in all areas, Umeed has the hallmarks of a dynamic organizational structure. It is made of members who synergise individual competencies. There is palpably good working relationship among its members, a shared mission and a strength that comes from openness, willingness, receptivity, empathy and the humility to learn from others. The team members use their knowledge. skills, and expertise to identify individual needs of its clients while at the same time, sharing a common goal that increases the organizational business productivity.

I have felt in Umeed an environment of accountability and personal responsibility that makes for a successful team. What has impressed me also is the management style of its leader with task allocation, coordination and supervision whereby the system seems to works like a well-oiled machine. It is my conviction that collaboration with Umeed brings to schools special skills. In its mission to empower, energize and enable, Umeed reaches across disciplines to build a better a world. It creates a climate that facilitates a healthy development of adolescents and adult members of society.

It aims to provide opportunities to cultivate the capacity to enjoy life, to be creative, to be able to do things ones own way, to learn to interact with all kinds of people, people of all ages, races, with different interests and lifestyles as well as with people from different economic and cultural backgrounds. Umeed counseling in schools aims for emotional health of youth, enabling them to make meaningful commitments to humanity without losing themselves.

Youth has the potential for all human experience and the adult generation is partly responsible for helping youth to be able to cope with its own problems as well as be able to take on the overall problems of society. The world may never be perfect but a lot can be done. Umeed, with its outstanding skills and remarkable competence has taken the initiative to strengthen the positive forces, to enhance the health of our youth and thus influencing the future of us all. I am proud to be a part of Umeed in its triumph and glory and wish its founder director Ms. Salony Priya and its valued members many prosperous years of service to humanity.
